“Women Scholars in the Study of Chinese Religions Breakfast” at the AAR in San Diego, November 23, 2019

The SSCR is happy to announce its support of the “Women Scholars in the Study of Chinese Religions Breakfast” at the 2019 AAR annual meeting in San Diego, November 2019.

The breakfast is the result of an informal working group on the status of women scholars in the study of Chinese religions that include Megan Culbertson Bryson (co-chair of the Chinese Religions Unit, AAR), Jessey Choo (co-chair of the Daoist Studies Unit), Pauline Lee (co-chair of the Confucian Traditions Unit), Natasha Heller (Board of Directors, SSCR), Anna Sun (co-chair, Chinese Religions Unit, Vice President, SSCR), and Elena Valussi (co-chair, Daoist Studies Unit and Board of Directors, SSCR).

This is the first ever breakfast meeting for women scholars (including trans women scholars) in the field of the study of Chinese religions. All are welcome, from senior scholars who would like to share their experiences in the field, to junior scholars, including graduate students, who wish to discuss issues of gender and diversity in their own career developments. This is an open-ended conversation aiming at bringing women scholars together to discuss issues that matter to us all, and to offer informal mentoring for younger generations.

Time: Saturday November 23, 8-10am

Place: Marriott Marquis-Solana (South Tower - First Level)

No RSVP is required.
