SSCR at AAR Denver, 2022
Emerging Voices in the Study of Chinese Religions
Call for Proposals
We are happy to announce that we are renewing our tradition of hosting a SSCR luncheon at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Religion 2022, showcasing new research in the field by recent PhDs as well as ABDs who are completing their dissertation work.
The SSCR is accepting proposals from recent PhDs and ABDs to present their work during its luncheon session at the AAR meeting in Denver (Nov. 19-22; Precise date to be announced). The meeting will be held in-person, but we will do our best to also accommodate virtual presentations. However, virtual speakers will need to register with the AAR, and this event will not be streamed.
We are interested in roughly 10-minute talks on any aspect of Chinese religions. The presentations may focus on recent field or archival work, or on a new critical framework of analysis of Chinese religions. Nominations of younger scholars by thesis advisors are welcome.
Please send a brief prospectus of no more than 200 words on your topic. Please also include a brief description of your current status (i.e., ABD and projected date of completion or PhD, date of completion and academic affiliation, if any), dissertation title, and thesis advisor. Please send inquiries and applications to Gil Raz <gil.raz@dartmouth.edu> and Elena Valussi <evalussi@luc.edu>.
Deadline for proposals: July 21, 2022
